Villa Madonna Academy's high school and middle school delegations performed well at their Kentucky Youth Assembly conferences in Louisville this week. The Kentucky YMCA Youth Association runs the annual conferences. The model government program teaches students about bill writing, debate, civil discourse, elections, legal issues, and more.

The high school delegation earned the Outstanding Bill Packet, awarded to the delegation whose bills demonstrate the highest level of preparation, presentation, and relevance based on student ranking. Seniors - Ava Borchers, Kate McDonald, and Maddie Timm - earned the Highest Ranked Bill Award and had their bill signed into law by the youth governor. Freshman bill authors - Jack Beck, Georgia Colvin, Jake Kiefer, and Luke Zumbiel - also had their bills signed into law.
Adam Kolar won an Outstanding Attorney Award. Camille Gordon earned Outstanding Delegate, and Caitlyn Ingram was recognized for Outstanding Social Media Award.
Sydney Short was selected by her peers to serve as next year's Attorney General.
The high school conference was led in part by Editor-in-Chief Sophie Schaeffer, Supreme Court Justice Aidan McGraw, and President of the Bluegrass House Quinn Holtzman.

Outstanding Speaker Awards went to Kate Bertoli and Bianca Wainscott. Carmen DeAtley-Rosales earned an Outstanding Delegate Award.

Lily Lewis was elected to serve as next year's Speaker of the House.
