Regular attendance gives your child the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills for future success, discover new interests, develop positive relationships, learn how to manage time, learn how to set goals and prepares them for high school. A student’s absence is excused only when the child is ill, injured, or has a family emergency or death in the family.
Whenever a student is to be absent from school, a parent should call and inform the school office between 8:00 and 9:30 A.M. If no call is received, the secretary will call home or parent’s work. Upon returning to school, it is necessary for the student to bring a note signed and dated by the parent. Students absent for doctor appointments must bring in a note from the doctor’s office. Students absent for three (3) consecutive days or more must have a doctor’s excuse in order to return to school.
Students who become ill at school are to call parents from the school office phone, then wait in the office until picked up and signed out.
Any anticipated absence or expected long period of absence should be reported to the office in advance. In such cases, it is the obligation of the student and/or parent to contact teachers for work to be made up within a time span designated by the teacher.
