The Write Stuff
Sep 28, 2015
Students at Villa Madonna Academy aren't the only ones who get writing assignments. The teachers do, too. Each year, the elementary faculty chooses a subject area to focus on, and this year, they are working on writing.
To do that, they are meeting throughout the year to review the curriculum and fine tune their own writing skills. Sixth grade language arts teacher Jenna Yuenger helped lead the most recent meeting. She placed pictures on a table and told the other teachers to choose a picture and start writing about it.
The writing prompt and exercise are just one of many learning opportunities our teachers are engaged in. Some elementary teachers are participating in monthly programs at Xavier University, and high school social studies teacher Bob Henson was selected to be part of the Teacher Scholar Program at the University of Lousiville. These and many other programs are helping Villa Madonna's teachers challenge and inspire Villa's students.
