Villa Madonna is proud to welcome award-winning author Lisa Graff to the elementary school this week. Ms. Graff is our author-in-residence this year. She is spending two days at Villa talking to second through sixth graders about the skills they need to be good writers. Ms. Graff talked about using descriptive language in writing through the use of similes. She shared her number one tip for being a good writer and told stories about her childhood.

As part of the author-in-residence program, the students have read in class a Lisa Graff novel, and they prepared questions for her. They had great questions about characters and where Ms. Graff finds her inspiration. Inspiration can come from anywhere according to Ms. Graff, and she told the students that most good writers walk around with their eyes open and let the ideas come into their head.

Villa thanks the Fine Arts Patrons and the Greater Cincinnati Foundation for the funds for this incredible learning experience, and a special thanks to Lisa Graff for sharing her time and talents with the students.
