Congratulations to senior Thomas Schutzman. He was nominated for Soccer Player of the Week in Enquirer Prep Sports. Thomas - number 23 above - was nominated for his two goals and two assists in a 2-0-1 week for the Blue Lightning. We congratulate him on his nomination.

In other soccer news, Villa's girls' varsity team defeated a strong and physical Montgomery Co team 1-0 on Saturday. Maddie Schenthal scored off an assist from Maddie Berberich 15 minutes into the second half.  Brooke Meier was in goal for the shutout.  It was a solid team effort.

In cross country, a few members of the team took part in the Pancreatic Cancer Purple Stride 5k road race in memory of Mr. Rapien's mother-in-law. Zack Werner placed second in the men's division. Maddie Blincoe won the women's division, and Maddie Dickman placed third. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the event!

In volleyball, both JV and Varsity defeated Newport last week. In the JV game, Madison Perry had 5 aces, and Audrey Smith had 3 kills. In Varsity action, Natalie Noll had 7 aces and 4 assists, and Faith Cobaugh had 23 digs. Congratulations to the volleyball teams.

Finally in golf, we congratulate the junior high team who defeated Blessed Sacrament 166-187 at World of Golf. Joey Egbers led scorers with a 37, Alex Grannen shot a 41, and Nick Ramundo shot a 50.
