Scholarship Campaign Launched to Remember Sr. Clarita
Sep 25, 2015
Villa Madonna and the Benedictine Sisters at St. Walburg lost a treasured friend and teacher earlier this month when Sr. Clarita Anneken died. One of Sr. Clarita's wishes was that a scholarship fund be established in her name. Villa Madonna and alum Jack Challis `00 have teamed up to launch a campaign to make Sr. Clarita's wish come true.
Sr. Clarita wrote that she cherished her life as a student at Villa Madonna Academy, and we were blessed to have her part of our faculty for many years. Sr. Clarita was such an important part of the community as a teacher and principal at Villa, St. Henry High School, and Holy Cross High School that in 2004, then Senator Jim Bunning issued this statement about her. His words below are part of the Congressional Record.
"Sister Clarita has dedicated her life to the education of America's future. For 63 years Sister Clarita has invested her knowledge, time, effort, patience, and understanding in the young people of Villa Madonna Academy. Her efforts have shaped the understanding of many young people who will be a part of America's future.
I believe that no good deed goes unrewarded. The reward that Sister Clarita will reap, however will be a reward reaped for many years, long after her teaching career is finished. It will be a reward which many Americans will share. It will be the reward of young, educated men and women who will be able to continue the great traditions of this country."
It is for these reasons and many others that we invite you to make a contribution to the scholarship.
