All across the country this week, schools will observe Read Across America. This is a national movement to celebrate reading, and it is tied to the birthdate of beloved children's author, Dr. Seuss.

Students at Villa Madonna Academy will celebrate reading with character dress up days, special reading visitors, and extra opportunities to read in class. Research shows that children who are motivated and spend more time reading perform better in school. We hope you take the opportunity to celebrate reading at home whether it's through a trip to the library, sharing a good book, or just talking to your child about his or her favorite book. All of these things can help spark of love of reading.

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Dr. Seuss
