Our Spiritual Home
Nov 18, 2015
After many months of hard work and sweat equity, Villa Madonna Academy's newly refurbished chapel is open again. The second grade students closed their Forgiveness Retreat with a Rosary prayer service in the chapel. They are the first students in many years to use the chapel as a spiritual center.
The chapel was first used back in 1907. It hosted graduations, weekly Masses, and even one wedding. As Villa Madonna grew, the chapel became too small for the student body to celebrate Mass there so the space was converted into a Spanish room. This summer, some classrooms were rearranged freeing up the chapel, and with help from parent volunteers, Villa Madonna board members, and elementary principal Mrs. Soshana Bosley, the refinishing process began. The ceiling was painted with beautiful details. The floors were refinished. A new altar was built. There is still work to be done, but the room is now available again for students and faculty.
The second grade prayer service is the first of many that will be hosted in the chapel. We look forward to coming together in our spiritual home for years to come.
