Excited About Acting
Aug 31, 2017
What a week it's been! Our students in grades 2-6 are working with a professional actor to write and perform an original play about Benedictine values. It's part of Villa's unique artist-in-residence program. Thanks to the generosity of the Fine Arts Patrons, we are able to bring in actor Michael Lippert of The Muse Machine to to teach them acting and writing skills. Mr. Lippert was our artist-in-residence back in 2006. He and the students created a values-based play called "Livin' Like a Benedictine."
Our students are learning about tools of the acting trade, how to project their voice, how to work as a team, and so much more. This experience is especially valuable to the students because it is also giving them a chance to explore in depth the Benedictine values. They are learning how to communicate what those values mean to them and how they may share the values with others.
We are eager to see the students perform "Still... Livin' Like a Benedictine" on September 8th at 1:30 p.m. Parents and family are welcome to attend.
