The arts are an important part of a well-rounded education. There have been a number of studies linking a strong arts program to improved academic performance. There are also studies showing that the arts improve critical thinking skills and help build self esteem. At Villa, there are fine arts programs for students in grades K-12. Elementary students attend weekly art and music classes. Fifth and sixth grade students may participate in drama club, and all students have opportunities to enjoy the wonderful arts in our community through field trips and visitors.
In the junior high, students take art and music, and in high school, students are able to choose from a number of fine arts classes. In addition, high school students are able to participate in the fall play and the spring musical. Both offer students a chance to explore acting and working as a group to pull together a performance. Currently, high school students are rehearsing for the musical “Working.” The musical celebrates the hopes, dreams and trials and tribulations of American worker. Join us for the production March 21st-24th. Tickets are available here.
